Leverage our construction expertise to ensure a smooth building process and to maximize your investment through our value-engineering approach. Woodruff Construction provides general construction services for a variety of project types including: education, healthcare/senior living, industrial, municipal, non-profit, office/retail, restaurant, and water treatment/utility.
We offer different contract options, such as Construction Manager-at-Risk, Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build, and Integrated Project Delivery, to best meet your unique needs. Each contract type provides a framework for collaboration between the owner, architect, and builder.
CMaR Resource Hub: We’ve created a dedicated resource page for our Iowa partners, featuring guidelines, templates, and tools to help public owners navigate recent changes in state law related to the Construction Manager-at-Risk (CMaR) delivery method.
Whether your business needs a little repair work, a full renovation, a new addition, or an entirely new facility, choose Woodruff Construction as your builder and let our award-winning team do the heavy lifting. Build your future with us.
The first consideration when choosing a project delivery method is your organization’s funding.
A recent Iowa law change now allows publicly funded organizations like schools to use the CMaR delivery method.
Smaller, straightforward projects may benefit from a traditional delivery method like a design-bid-build.
CMaR, on the other hand, works best for larger, multi-phase projects.
We serve five regions across Iowa with dedicated teams who remain local. You can move forward with confidence, knowing qualified, professional teams are available to deliver a successful project.
Timing plays a key role in choosing a project delivery method.
For fast-track projects, hiring a contractor early – through a negotiated contract, design-build or CMaR – can help keep things on schedule. These methods allow construction managers to break the work into phases and start early bid packages, while the rest of the design is still being finalized.
This phased approach is especially helpful for projects with complex scheduling needs, like schools and universities, where minimizing disruption to classes and activities is critical
Woodruff has experience in a wide variety of industries, so you can be confident in our expertise with your project, no matter which delivery method you end up choosing.

Woodruff employs a strong, skilled workforce that self-performs many of the trades we oversee as general contractor or construction manager. This allows for tight control of the project schedule, consistent high-quality work, and lower costs for the project owner. We are proud of our in-house carpentry, concrete, and steel crews and the exceptional work they do every day on the job.
With our diverse crew of skilled carpenters, we have the experience, training, and professional knowledge to tackle almost any carpentry job you can throw at us.
Our crew is able to install exterior finishes such as concrete plank siding, architectural metal panels and trim, and the many varieties of the Nichiha concrete board siding and architectural stone systems.
Our interior crews install a wide variety of different finish products ranging from wood trim, acoustical ceilings, vinyl base, architectural wall panels, and custom casework/countertop installation (including solid surface countertops and window sills) to specialty items such as custom architectural railing systems, wall protection, handrails, and restroom partitions. We excel at installing commercial doors, frames, and a wide range of door hardware and accessories.
Our concrete crews are some of the most efficient, hardest working crews around. The concrete work we self-perform is mainly flatwork and cast-in-place walls.
Flatwork consists of interior floors, concrete paving, concrete sidewalks, and elevated decks. Our crews utilize laser screeds which allow us to achieve a high level of “floor flatness” (FF) and “floor levelness” (FL) to meet even the most exacting of flooring specifications.
The cast-in-place walls our crews pour are completed using Peri and/or Symons forms. These are patented wall-forming systems which allow for fast installation and tear-down times.
Woodruff owns all the necessary equipment to perform each facet of our concrete work including track skid loaders for grading, riding trowel machines for floor finishing, and cranes for cast-in-place wall construction.
Our crews of certified welders are capable of performing almost any type of steel installation or fabrication. The diverse talents of our crews allow us to complete everything from small architectural portions of steel fabrications to the largest steel erection projects including precast structures.
A substantial portion of our steel work includes erecting red iron and precast steel structures. Our welding crew teams up with our own NCCCO-certified crane operators to get the job done quickly and efficiently.
We are experienced in precision equipment setting, associated process piping, and equipment-access mezzanine installation. We also install architectural steel handrails and guardrails to existing multi-story structural steel structures.
